With the hot, dry summer in Chile this year, harvest is well under way, and it will be very busy in the next week for Certified Production in that regard. We are also starting to send some containers of our first harvested seed lots. In Parent Seed, harvest is also starting, but with a possible forecast of rain at the end of this week, we may get held up for a few days. Overall, it looks like we will have the earliest end to the certified hybrid harvest in Chile that we’ve had in a few years.

In Canada, although we had a small snowfall this week, the mild winter has so far continued, which is giving us hope that early seeding may be a reality this season. But as Southern Alberta is known, winter could still hit us at some point. Contracting is ongoing at this point, as well as equipment maintenance, and planning for summer labour and resources for 2012. With our new treating line almost complete, we are confident seed treating will commence in the next 10 days.
